This listing is for a gorgeous late 19th Century Japanese enameled porcelain oval serving bowl . The bowl has a has very nice raised enameling and gold work throughout, the fluted/paneled body extending out from the decorative center with the panels widening slightly as they approach the scalloped outer edge. The bowl has assorted designs and color combinations with elaborate raised gold throughout. The exterior of the bowl has a cobalt blue design that encircles the outer border with a double ring around the outside of the foot ring and a single cobalt ring on the inside with unidentified blue underglaze marks. Although the bowl is nicely marked, the mark is unidentifiable. You can tell that this piece was made by a great craftsman. We are certain that this plate dates to the Meiji period (1868-1912) or possibly earlier. Please use your own judgment as to age and maker.
    Measures 12” by 7 1/2”, 2” tall. Weighs 1lb 6.6 ounces.
This stunning bowl is in very good condition. There are a couple of small chips on the rim and 1 short hair line(hard to see), 1 crack 1/2” long outside the bowl, please see the last 3 pictures, otherwise the plate has rich coloration and no scratches or other noted flaws.
