    Description

    Antique early daguerreotype of a man. 1/4 plate size, almost, the plate measures 3 7/8" x 3 1/8", and the plain oval matt is 2 7/8" x 2 1/4". Found in a Rockport MA estate, but he wasn't identified. He looks either concerned or dubious about the whole thing. A very clear image! I took various photos of it, and some have reflections, and one just to show you what happens if the light isn't just right- you can't really see it. I didn't try to pry him out, so I don't know if there's a photographer's label in there or not. The case has a little wear around the corners, and the hinge has wear. There are some speckles, I think that's behind the glass. And a little tarnish around the edge.
