    Description

    Antique Japanese Sometsuke Blue & White Porcelain Dish - an eggplant shaped dish with steep sides, extruding stem and  single leaf protrusion at the lip. Decorated in under glaze cobalt blue painting of a classical Chinese landscape with rocky outcroppings in the foreground and the background, a circular moon in the distance and a boatman on a small boat. The central island has trees, dwellings and a single figure at the shore. The scene is contained within a double band and another blue band at the rim and a single line outlining the footed base. Glazed overall in a translucent glaze.
    Some kiln grit adhesions to the center of the bowl and the side leaf, otherwise excellent condition.
