This exquisite box is unused in new condition in its original box with a card explaining the manufacture in English as well as in Korean. It is black with mother of pearl inlaid, and some conch and abalone according to the card. This box is an artisan piece made in the Korean Najeon Chilgi tradition that dates back centuries. The newer ones are created by artist Jongman Park. These pieces from start to finish takes approximately 6 months to make. It is decorated with cranes, sea turtles and deer motif and pictures the sea, the mountains, a full moon, flowers and trees. The opalescent quality shows soft hues of pink, teal, white and gold. It is 8 3/4 inches long, 2 1/4 inches high and 3 inches deep. It is very versatile as it can be used for jewelry, makeup, writing implements or as a trinket box. The inside has a mirror on the lid and a side section that has 2 holes, assuming if used for writing. Because of the condition and box it would make a very unique gift.
