    Description

This is a great collectible souvenir from the Texas Centennial Exposition of 1936. This expo was held in Dallas, Texas to commemorate the state's 100 years of independence. The token measures 2-1/4 inches in diameter. There were several different variations of the "lucky penny" issued for this event. This one shows an Indian head on one side and a globe with flags on the obverse. The token has a gold-tone to it and shows some wear at the edge, including some loss of tone. Made of some type of non-ferrous metal. The Texas Centennial was a celebration to commemorate one hundred years of independence in Texas, on the anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Texas in 1835. Officially observed in 1936, festivities included events all over the state beginning in 1935. A Texas Centennial Commission was established to choose a location and discuss finances for the celebration. The committee selected Dallas, a location that could provide the most funding for the Central Centennial Exposition. This event ran from June 6, 1936, to November 29, 1936, and presented buildings, exhibits, displays, and other projects devoted to two subjects: history and progress. The exposition cost approximately ,000,000 and was noted for being the first fair held in the Southwest as well as the first fair
in the world to have an exhibit specially focusing on African Americans. The Central Centennial Exposition drew so much attention that it re-opened for a short time in 1937. (Wikipedia) CONDITION: FAIR - GOOD (wear and loss of gold tone color around edge of token, age patina visible).

    Other Information
Thank you for looking at my merchandise. I really appreciate your browsing and shopping. Mostly the buying, but it's all appreciated nonetheless.
PayPal and Ebay are my preferred methods of payment. Who am I kidding? I prefer cash. But since that isn't an option, we will discuss PayPal. Payments must clear before the item(s) will be shipped. I do not ship to unconfirmed addresses (be a grownup and confirm it, already!), nor do I ship outside the contiguous 48 states or to APOs. If you don't know what an APO is, then it doesn't apply to you. No need to lose any sleep over it. Or you can just google it and kill another two minutes of the day. Then google "cats on Roombas" and there goes the rest of your day. You're welcome.
Color, size and details of the product may vary due to screen resolution and reflection of the light during photoshoot.
Appraisals are to identify gems and precious metal. The appraised value is the opinion of the appraiser and not a guarantee.
I am happy to leave positive feedback for those who kindly take the time to do the same for me. Yes, it's a pain to take the time to leave feedback for me. But it gives me warm fuzzies. I LOVE warm fuzzies. And remember... Santa takes notes all year long. You don't want to get on his naughty list. Well, not for that reason anyway. ;)
Color is subjective. The digital pictures I display are sometimes less than optimal. Well, not "sometimes". Let's be honest and say "almost always". I am not a professional photographer and I do not have a photo studio. I don't have a pet monkey either. All things I regret. Also, I cannot be held responsible for the differences in individual monitor settings. (You know you love to set that fluorescent pink filter on high! You go, girl!) Additionally, different lighting may affect the color perception of an item, so please be familiar with the items you are purchasing.
It is possible that not all things in the pictures are included in the auction. For example, if, for some reason, my Aunt Bertha did a photo bomb when I was taking a picture of an item, you CANNOT BUY HER! Well, probably not. Make me an offer. Full disclosure: She passes gas. A lot. But I digress. The point is: Please read the description carefully and ask questions if you are unsure about what is and is not included.
All items come from a pet-free, smoke-free, very clean home. No seriously. I have 19 bottles of Windex and my spices are alphabetized (with front-facing labels, of course! Duh! I'm not an animal.) That being said, some items that I sell are customer return items and it is impossible to tell if it was ever in a home with, say, stuffed squirrels everywhere. As much as I would love to have you as a customer, if you have strong aversions to scents and/or animal fur, perhaps it would be best for you to buy directly from the manufacturer. Or simply be prepared to launder the item (when applicable) prior to use. Or breathe less.
I am in no way affiliated with (nor is this auction condoned by) any of the companies whose products I am selling. My children also don't claim to know me when we are in public.
