Very Rare Johnson Century 100 "Demo" reel, 1955 Version, Near Mint w/ Box!!!!!!

Here is a great addition to a Johnson Fishing Reels collection. Its a Johnson Century model 100 "Demonstrator" reel. Let me explain. Starting with the last of the "Sidewinder" reels, the model 80, Johnson Reel would send an extra reel to select dealers and allow them to "sign them out" to customers to try before they buy. This js one of those demo reels as indicated by the stamp on the housing.
However... this reel is much more than just a demo reel. This is one of the earliest , and Ill add cleanest, Centuries produced, definitely 1955. I base the year determination on the 6 position drag with metal pointer, large chrome line grommet, "U" shaped wire pickup spring and black plastic spool.
There is wear in the usual spot on the single white barrel handle where the thumb wore away the chrome on all these early 100's The rest, as you see, is in near mint condition. The reel functions flawlessly.  Included is the box, which was normally thrown away or used for a missing box, repairs or what have you.
Ive been collecting Johnson Reels and related Johnson Reel Co. items for over 25 years. In the next few weeks I will be selling the majority of my collection, including all my "Demo" reels.
