Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB WW2 German Luftwaffe 1:2000000 German Fliegerkarte (Pilot Map) as used by both Fighter Pilots and Bomber crews for navigation.This map is the VERY RARE DOUBLE SIDED Night Flying version, and is titled "Luft-Navigationskarte in Merkatorprojecktion" (Navigational Map in Merkator Projection), and measures a LARGE 32" x 47" (74cm x 120cm)!
This map allowed the pilot to properly calculate his flight path.
It is made heavy oil cloth, and tinted yellow, for easy visibiblity during fight flying.
Made of yellow-tinted oil cloth, this map is in VERY NICE condition for its age.
It measures a LARGE 2.5 feet x 3.5 feet in size, and covers Western Russia and Southeast Asia on the front; and Northwest Russia on the reverse.
First side is labelled, "Zusammendruck:
Westrussland u. Nordliches Vorderasien" (Western Russia and Northern Southeast Asia). While the second side is labelled, "Zusammendruck Nr. 5 Nordwest Russland (Northwest Russia).
Overall it covers Moscow, Murmansk, Leningrad, the Black Sea, Caucasus Mountains, Caspian Sea, Leningrad, and areas of Finland.
Shows various locations of lakes, seas, towns, villages, cities, railways, and elevations. Also features longitude and latitude degree markings.
Also has two 2nd pattern eagles at the top.
Some creases and folds, but nothing that takes away from the overall appearance.
Map date is 1938 with printing date of 1940.
A VERY RARE and FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or simply as a conversation piece!
